Shooting Workouts
Repetition Shooting Drills
These drills are designed to help you build the muscle memory needed to become a great shooter. During these workouts, focus on using perfect form and repeating your shot with the same motion every time.
**For all these workouts, use the 5 around the world spots (short corner, wing, top of the key, wing, short corner). It is recommended to complete each of these drills with 15 foot shots, then again from 3 point range for guards.
#1 Quick 50
#2 - 3,4,5 in a row
#3 - Beat the Pro
- Shoot 10 shots at each of the 5 spots for a total of 50.
- **Record your number of makes and use this drill to track your improvement
- You can also modify this drill to make 10 shots at each spot for a total of 50. Track the time it takes you to make 5o shots.
- Guards can complete this drill from both 2 point shots and 3 point shots.
#2 - 3,4,5 in a row
- This drill works best if you compete against a partner
- Your goal in this drill is to “clear” a spot. You do this by making a certain number of shots in a row
- Begin with making 3 shots in row before advancing. As you improve, make 4 in a row before advancing and finally 5 in a row.
- Decide on a set number of shots that each player will take before switching partners (25 or 50 is a good number). Player 1 will have X number of shots to make it to as many spots as they can before switching. Then Player 2 will have the same number of shots to make it as far as they can.
- If a player makes it around at all 5 spots, move back and complete the same drill from 3 point range.
- Play for a set amount of time (for example 10 minutes) and try to clear all 5 spots.
#3 - Beat the Pro
- Play to a set number at each spot (10, 15, 21, etc).
- You are playing against an imaginary pro. EAch shot that you make earns you 1 point. Each shot you miss earns the pro 2 points. First one to reach teh target score is the winner.
- For example, you make 3 shots and miss 2 shots. The score would be 3 to 4.
- Play at each of the 5 around the world spots.
